Biography

Birgit has worked at Guelph Wellington Women in Crisis for 28 years and is currently a Senior Support Counselor in the Transitional and Housing Support Program. She is an active member of the Guelph Wellington Elder Abuse Consultation Team. Birgit is also the founder and facilitator of the Happy Hopefuls, now in its 14th year, a thriving support group for older women who have experienced abuse. She brings extensive knowledge, experience and dedication to her work. Birgit is passionate about developing resources for older women who have experienced all forms of violence. One of the cornerstones of this support is finding safe and affordable housing.
